Brazilian developer QUByte Interactive in partnership with podcast 99 Vidas will bring the beat ’em up 99 Vidas: The Game to PC and Consoles in Q32016.
99Vidas: The Game captures the excitement of beat ’em ups like Final Fight, Double Dragon, Battletoads, Golden Axe and Streets of Rage featuring 16-bit retro graphics to bring back the nostalgia of these great genre classics from the 90ies which dominated the arcades and the consoles of that time.
Watch the first gameplay footage of 99 Vidas: The Game:
In 99Vidas movement speed, damage, health points and resistance vary between the 11 available characters. Izzy for example moves and punches faster than others but deals less damage as a compromise. Fries, while being slower and stronger, deals more damage and is also able to sustain more damage from the enemies.
Besides the different characteristics, each character is aligned to one of five elements: Water, Lightning, Fire, Rock and Air. These will grant them different powers that affect their moves (gameplay and visual-wise). Special/Area Attacks, Blitz Attacks, Super/Magic Attacks as well as Combo Upgrades are all based on these alignments.
In difference to traditional Beat’Em Ups, 99Vidas will have two attack buttons: Punch (fast but weak) and Kick (slow but strong). Players will be able to perform combos by alternating the attacks, which allows them 8 basic combos. These combos can also be upgraded by adding different elements for other visuals and modified behaviors like multiple-hit strikes and additional damage.
