Quadratus – Hard Time Attack Speed Slaying Guide
Quadratus is the second Colossus you will face in Shadows of the Colossus. Specifically, on Hard Time Attack mode, Quadratus’s kill requirement is 4 minutes, 30 seconds, and he has a total of three vital points you need to destroy in order to take him down. One is on the left side of his body at the top, another one next to his tail at the top of his back, and of course, his head. For the most part, he is not that difficult because you get a ton of time to kill him. Right at the beginning of the fight, you want to equip your bow and get a behind him to get ready to shoot into one of his weak spots. When Quadratus raises his feet, you will see a small opening glowing green. That’s the weak point. The best leg to aim for is his front left, because that’s the fastest way to get to his first vital point on the left side of his body. Thankfully, you only have to hit it once for him to stumble to the ground. Once that happens, run up to his left and start climbing on the side of his body. This is where it gets kind of rough.
It is possible to have enough stamina to destroy his first vital point, but also very risky if you spend too much time trying to get to it. I would highly recommend that you climb onto his small platform/ledge that’s near the vital point and wait there until you regain your stamina. You have plenty of time to kill him, so don’t worry about taking too many risks. When your stamina is fully replenished, you can start crawling up to his vital spot. Once you get there, start stabbing it. After it disappears, go toward the tail by walking or running on his back (depending on how much stamina you have left), and take out his next vital point. After that, all you have to do is get to his head for the final vital point. You want to run and jump across his spine (doesn’t matter which side you choose, but I prefer the right since it’s a tad easier because some of them are broken). Once you get to his head, be prepared for a lot of shaking. Do not get up if he is in the middle of shaking because there is a decent chance of you falling off him or possibly flying away. If that happens, you will have to climb him again. At this point, just manage your stamina, keep stabbing the head, and be cognizant of your stamina meter.
