Version 1.6.0 of Anthem is here! This new update, referred to as Icetide, brings tons of winter-themed features for players to try out this holiday season along with many needed bug fixes.
The first big addition is seasonal themed Strongholds. There will be different seasonal Strongholds featured every week to complete with leaderboards for players to see who has the highest score in all of Bastion. There is also a seasonal store where players can use their Crystals purchase War Chests.
A new legendary world event called Icetide Coolant Harvesting was added as well. In this event players will “help the Arcanist harvest precious coolant resources while fighting off the outlaw forces that are trying to steal it” from them.
There are also new challenges for people to complete in order to earn new armor sets, special time trial wraps, and more as well as freeplay time trials. There are eight time trials in total around the map for players to find and compete in. Javelin racing as never been so fun.
For map explorers, there are now Festive Wreaths hidden around Bastion to collect. On top of that, there are new Icetide Cortex Entries that will add more depth to the Anthem story for those who are able to find them.
Players that have reached Grandmaster 3 will now receive loot drops with a Gear Score of +5. For players who haven’t reach GM3 yet, there is still a way to earn loot with +5 Gear Score. By using new Guardian Tokens, which are earned through daily and weekly challenges, and various other crafting materials, players can gain a random legendary item at the Tombs of the Legionnaires. These pieces guarantee a +5 Gear Score.
Even though the piece received is random, each tomb will give out only certain types of gear. The Tomb of Artinia has Legendary Weapons. The Tomb of Cariff has Legendary Gear. Players will find Legendary Melee Weapons and Javelin-Specific Components at the Tomb of Yvenia, while the Tomb of Gawnes contains Legendary Support Gear and Universal Components.
Lastly, there are countless new Icetide-themed cosmetic items for players to obtain. These are available for people to buy throughout the whole season in the Featured Store.
