‘This Week at Bungie’ released yesterday, the development team revealed some of the changes Guardians can expect ahead of the next Season of Destiny 2.
Sword was the topic of discussion on This Week at Bungie, the development team has been tweaking the close-quarter heavy weapons to make them more efficient during tough battles.
Since the launch of Destiny 2, we’ve been seeing feedback on general functionality and the team has been kicking around ideas on how to make things a bit more enticing.
Dev Team: Swords are getting a little more love this Season. While Swords have been a staple of Destiny ever since their introduction in The Taken King, we felt they were due for an update both to freshen them up, but also to allow us more room to work with them in later releases.
One of the ways that Sword Energy can be used is ‘Guarding’, no ammo will be used if a Guardian uses his sword to protect from enemy fire. Different guards will have different consumption rates, damage resistance and behaviors. Players will still need at least one ammo to begin guarding.
Shield Bypassing is a new feature for Swords, a portion of most Sword attacks can partially bypass elemental shields, according to Bungie they added this ability to swords to “difference from shotguns who share a very similar role in combat as powerful CQC weapons.”
Swords will remain having two basic attacks a fast light attack and a more powerful slower heavy attack.
- Light Attacks: Grounded light attacks for all Swords will loop for an infinite combo, Bungie intends to recreate a more hack ‘n slash feel to this kind of attacks.
- Heavy Attacks: this kind of attacks will largely consume Sword energy, the attacks will be stronger when Guardians have full energy.
Bungie promises that more information of the upcoming changes to weapons and abilities will be release in the following weeks, Stay tuned at at Gaming Instincts via Twitter, YouTube and Facebook for more Destiny 2 information.
