Konami Dismisses Silent Hill’s Rumors

Konami has just denied that Silent Hill is being remade, dismissing recent rumors from AestheticGamer who affirmed that Konami was reaching several studios for the reboot of the franchise, the leaker also said that an episodic Silent Hill game was being planned, a partnership between Sony, Kojima Productions and Konami was rumored to be in  negotiation, AestheticGamer suggested that Sony had acquired the rights of the games, but Konami retained the IP rights.

A news outlet based on horror games claims to have reached Konami for more information about the Silent Hill franchise, they affirm that a North American PR representative from Konami replied their request via e-mail revealing that AestheticGamer’s rumors “are not true”. The allegedly e-mail from Konami also states that the developers is committed to the franchise.

“We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear,”

In the Konami rep’s original email, he also said: “It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported.” So, while Konami US is denying that the rumors are true, they’re once again acknowledging that the series is still alive in some way.

Kojima Productions was recently teasing something related to Silent Hill , Kojima Production’s teased something that never arrived, it’s possible that some kind of negotiation took place between the three parties but an agreement wasn’t found. What’s confirmed is that the original monster designer Masahiro Ito, has confirmed his collaboration as a “Core Member” in an unannounced project. He suggested that the project is linked to Konami or Silent Hill when he says “I’m working on a title as a core member. I hope the title won’t be cancelled… I can tell you nothing yet.”.
