The Medium Delayed To January 2021

The Medium, the third-person psychological horror game by Bloober Team in Poland, has been delayed to January 2021. The game was originally set to release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U in 2012, but the development team wanted to wait for next-generation hardware to make the best experience possible, citing the dual realities as being difficult to render on previous generation hardware. Having waited this long, developers at Bloober Team wanted to double down on that statement, setting the release date from December 10, 2020 to a month later for some last minute polishing. The game boasts collaboration with Akira Yamaoka, who is most notably known for his work on composing music for Silent Hill 2, Shadows of the Damned, and the unreleased Silent Hills. His music creates an ambiance that is unmatched in video game storytelling. In a trailer released last month, the dev team elaborated on how exactly Marianne uses her gift of being a medium to live in two realities, sometimes simultaneously. The player will have the ability to not only cross from reality to the spirit world, but the game will have the player be in both realms at once to solve certain puzzles. “Depending on the context or situation, one world might take up more of the screen than the other.”  With Marianne’s physical body remaining in the real world and her spirit being projected into the Spirit World, The Dual Reality gameplay will add an interesting spin to the puzzle mechanics that are so often in psychological horror games of this nature. The Medium is set to release in January 2021 on Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X|SGaming Instincts is dedicated to bringing its readers all the latest and greatest news, reviews, guides, and updates for all their favorite titles and more.
