On a recent earnings call, Electronic Arts confirmed the game’s release in Holidays 2021, the return to military warfare, and teased what fans can expect for the next-gen game.

The game takes full advantage of the power of next-generation platforms to bring massive immersive battles to life with more players than ever before. Featuring maps with unprecedented scale, the next edition of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, vehicle and weapon combat that the franchise is known for and elevate it to another level.

The team is focused and the game is ahead of our internal milestones. […] I can tell you now that the Battlefield team is doing an incredible job. They’re way ahead of where they were in prior product cycles, on track for their earliest feature complete in franchise history.

Tom Henderson also affirms that Battlefield VI will feature a 128 multiplayer gameplay on next-gen consoles, old-gen hardware will be able to support up to 32 players with other next-gen features reduced.

Battlefield VI might deliver destructible cities on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, but it’s very unlikely that old-gen consoles might be able to handle the feature.

Tom Henderson has proven to be a reliable source of information, however, this information is might be speculation of Henderson and it’s not based on an official statement, so we still have to take this information with a grain of salt.
