As part of yesterday’s Future Games Show, Daedelic Entertainment showcased the newest developers’ showcase trailer for Lord of the Rings: Gollum.
The new trailer showcases more about the personality of the favorite schizophrenic character and how he interacts with Mount Doom and other locations. The development team confirmed that the game is a narrative-driven experience in which players will control the two egos of the protagonist.
Check the developer’s showcase down below:
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a story-driven action-adventure. Take on a perilous journey as Gollum, chasing the only thing that is precious to him. Gollum is skillful and cunning, but also torn by his split personality. One mind, two egos – you decide!
While being vital to the story by J.R.R. Tolkien, many parts of Gollum’s quest have not been told in detail yet. In The Lord of the Rings: Gollum you get to experience this story. From his time as a slave below the Dark Tower to his stay with the Elves of Mirkwood.
Use stealth, agility, and cunning to survive and overcome what lies ahead. Climb, leap and grapple your way past dangers or into advantageous spots.
The decisions you make and the way you play have a direct influence on Gollum’s personality: Always struggling between the two sides embodied by Gollum and Sméagol, it is up to you to decide whether the darker side of Gollum takes over or if there is a spark of reason left in what once was Sméagol.
While the main character might not be a fighter, it is not unlike him to assassinate a careless enemy when the chance presents itself, player can also dispose of mostly all enemies in more creative and villainous ways.
Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a stealth action game based on the novels written by J.R.R Tolkien, the game is being developed by Daedalic Entertainment for the Microsoft Xbox Series X|S and Sony PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The game is expected to be released in 2022.
