One of the most underrated RPG games in recent years, Greedfall, will be getting an upgraded version for release on the next-gen consoles, as well as a new story DLC, later this month. The game was developed by Spiders and published by Focus Home Interactive in 2019.
The upgraded version of the game will enhanced visuals and up to UHD native 4K, fast loading and 60fps in performance mode for both consoles. Previously the game was made available for PlayStation 4 owners through the PlayStation plus service. If you already have the game, the next gen upgrade will be made available for free.
On top of this the game will be receiving a new expansion entitled The De Vespe Conspiracy. This will be sold separately, however if you do not have the game a next-gen bundle will be sold, bundling both the main game and the expansion. According to the official release, the store of the new content is outlined as such:
“The De Vespe Conspiracy expands on GreedFall’s cherished world and story, inviting you to set foot on a previously undiscovered region of Teer Fradee and tackle a brand new intrigue. Navigate a web of lies, manipulation and secrets, as you unravel a nefarious conspiracy that threatens the balance of power. Explore an uncharted region of the island, battle strange new beasts, upgrade your equipment with new gear and face off against a villainous new enemy faction in your hunt to uncover the truth.”
Upon it’s release the game received mixed reviews, though most were positive. The consensus was the game had big asperations but, being a smaller and less funded studio, was not able to hit the marks of other companies. However, most agreed that despite its issues it succeeded more than it failed.
The expansion, next-gen upgrade, and bundle will be available June 30, 2021.
