Upcoming MMO New World Delayed Again

New World

, the upcoming MMO from Amazon Games has been delayed yet again with only a month before it was set to release. It is now set to be released near the end of September. This decision was reached based on feedback gathered during the recent current closed beta test for the game.

The team behind the game took to Twitter to inform fans of the decision. Discussing the reasons for delaying the game they stated:

We want New World’s launch to be a smooth and fun experience for all players, and that means making some improvements based on what you encountered during Closed Beta. So we’re going to take a few extra weeks to smash bugs, improve stability, and polish the game.

Before talking about the new date:

New World’s new global launch date is September 28, 2021. This was not an easy decision to make. We know this isn’t the first time we’ve changed our launch date in pursuit of quality, and that it can be disappointing to wait a bit longer. But we want to be sure we deliver you the highest quality game at launch. Thank you for your support and feedback.

This is not the first time the New World has been pushed back prior to this. Initially, the game was set to launch in May of 2020, it was delayed out of that date into 2021. While a part of this was most likely due to Covid-19, reactions to an Alpha test in July also played a hand, with reaction stating there was a lack of deep game content.

The closed beta test was also met with mixed reactions. While the game racked up over 200,000 concurrent users on steam, a very impressive number, many fans felt that the game offered a run-of-the-mill MMO experience. While this delay will most likely not fix those issues, hopefully, a well-running game is what helps keep players invested while they explore ways to fix other issues.
