Over 1.3 million stolen internal Insomniac files have been leaked to the internet following a recent hack by the ransomware group Rhysida. The documents were leaked after Insomniac Games refused to pay for the return of these files which amount to 1.67 terabytes of data. These files include confidential information about several of the studio’s upcoming projects, including several images, alpha footage, and concept art, as well as financial information, projections, release dates, and more.A significant part of the leak is focused on the upcoming title Marvel’s Wolverine, which the leak reveals is targeting a 2026 release window, and will be followed up with multiple Wolverine titles including, Marvel’s Wolverine, Marvel’s X-Men, and Marvel’s X-Men 3, along with a potential fourth title. It also shows a Wolverine Online title for 2026 and X-Men Online for 2028. However, these release plans may not currently be out of date.Additionally, the leak reveals that Sony’s licensing agreement states that the X-Men games will remain exclusive to PlayStation consoles until 2035 which includes the previously mentioned games. The licensing agreement also states that the X-Men games cant be released or announced for other consoles, PC, or streaming platforms. The several leaked videos and images for Wolverine show off story details, character features, powers, platforming, and more were also leaked and have been posted throughout the internet.
The leak also reveals that Insomniac has a new Ratchet and Clank game in development, with a targeted launch date of 2029. The game’s screenplay and internal documents showing more details on the title were also leaked. According to the leak, the title will feature the four characters featured in the previous game, Ratchet, Clank, Rivet, and Kit, as they all go on a new quest together. The title will seemingly feature co-op play, as well as new space exploration and customization elements.
Additionally, according to the leak, the previous title, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, which has reportedly sold over 2.2 million units worldwide so far, failed to make a profit. The title had a loss of $8 million with a total budget of $81 million and total revenue of $73 million.
Lastly, the leak also reveals that Insomniac plans on releasing a new IP after 2030.
