Black Myth: Wukong recently came out and has already been a massive success. So much so that the game is reportedly helping sell out consoles. According to the industry consultant Daniel Camilo on Twitter, Chinese citizens have been buying PlayStation 5 consoles in droves just to play the game. The console is notably the only console Black Myth Wukong is available on. Even people who didn’t care about gaming are reportedly buying the console.“We’re witnessing a ‘contagious wave’ of consumers who don’t usually care about gaming suddenly being overwhelmed with all the exposure the game is having in China, and buying new consoles,” Camilo wrote. “At Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen (world’s largest electronic market), it is now clear that sales are extraordinarily high, driven by Wukong,” he added in another tweet. Black Myth: Wukong also achieved a peak concurrent player count of 2,415,714 players on Steam, making it the most played single player game on the platform and the second highest concurrently played game on the platform. The game launched on August 20, 2024, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
