Concord Reportedly Had a Budget of About $400 Million

According to Last Stand Media founder Colin Moriarty  in a recent episode of the Sacred Symbols podcast, the multiplayer first-person shooter Concord had a budget of around $400 million despite its commercial failure, and was referred to as “The future of PlayStation”. Most of this fund was reportedly gathered by Sony, making it one of the most expensive games from the publisher to date, comparable to games like Horizon Forbidden West and Last of US Part 2. According to Moriarty, this number does not include acquiring studio Firewalk. Additionally, according to Moriarty, Concord entered alpha stage and already spent $200 million, and the game was in “a laughable shape” by the time it was announced. Lastly, Moriarty claimed the game had a “toxic positivity” culture which halted all negative feedback, affecting it negatively. Earlier this month,

Sony and developer Firewalk Studios announced that Concord will officially go offline on September 6 less than a month since the game officially launched on August 23. The publisher stated it will use this to “determine the best path ahead”. Concord launched for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store to just 697 concurrent Steam players. The game is also rumored to have only sold about 25,000 units across both platforms.

The game’s details:
