Transformers: Reactivate Has Been Cancelled, Studio Scales Down

Splash Damage has announced that Transformers: Reactivate has been canceled. The studio announced that it will scale down its operations and focus its effort on other projects. Additionally, several employees are at risk of being laid off as redundancies. However, the studio states that it is “now focused on doing everything we can to support them through this tough period.” Transformers: Reactivate, was to be an online co-op action game for consoles and PC. It was announced back in December 2022.

The full message from the studio:

Today, we have some very difficult news to share, the decision has been made to end development of Transformers: Reactivate.

This means we will be scaling down to refocus our efforts on other projects. Unfortunately, despite every effort, a number of roles across the studio are now potentially at risk of redundancy.

This decision did not come lightly, and it is a difficult time for the studio and our people. We want to take a moment to thank the team who worked on Transformers for their dedication and passion.

Hasbro was an incredible and supportive partner throughout, and we hope to work with them again. To the many fans, your excitement and support helped keep us going.

While not being able to see the game through to release is painful, having to say goodbye to friends and colleagues hurts even more. We’re now focused on doing everything we can to support them through this tough period, just as we are committed to caring for those who will stay with us as we build a stronger Splash Damage for the future.

Thank you for your compassion and understanding.

The game’s details:

Transformers: Reactivate is a one-to-four player online action game, being developed in collaboration with Hasbro, Inc. This PC and console cooperative game will offer players an opportunity to explore a fresh, new story within the Transformers universe.

The gravest threat to humanity has arrived. And it’s already won. Earth is no longer ours; it belongs to them. All we have left is our hope for the Autobots, as we salvage them from the rubble left behind.

Transformers: Reactivate will offer players a chance to immerse themselves in the Transformers universe like never before. They will get to play as some of their favorite characters; unique, weighty, and powerful, seamlessly converting between vehicle and bot form as they battle The Legion; the greatest threat the Autobots have ever faced.

Transformers: Reactivate marks a new era for Splash Damage and is being developed and published exclusively by the London-based group. As part of this new era, Splash Damage recently acquired BULKHEAD and have been developing Transformers: Reactivate in collaboration with the Derby-based studio. The 500-plus people strong development and publishing teams at Splash Damage and BULKHEAD are expanding rapidly and Transformers: Reactivate is one of several original titles currently in development at the studios.
