A Plague Tale: Requiem Showcased At VGAs

A plague Tale: Innocence,

released originally in 2019, was a shocking hit from Asobo Studios. Set in a medieval-type setting it follows a sister and brother as they attempt to survive a plague that similar to the plague that ravaged Europe in the mid-1300s is spread by rats. The twist on this is that the rats from large ravenous groups constantly block the player’s progression.

Owing to its success, we learned that a sequel was in the works for the game when a teaser trailer for the game was showcased during Xbox’s E3 panel. Entitled A Plague Tale: Requiem, a new, more in-depth trailer was showcased for the game during the video game awards.

The game showcases a series of events that should feel familiar to fans, with the goal clearly to give players more of what they loved from the first game. At several moments we see the lead character, Amicia, as she is forced to sneak around guards and even kill them. A Major beat point in the first game was her first kill which was treated with importance but based on her kill count by the end, most likely she grew more hardened this time around.

We also see the rats that tormented her and her brother for much of the first game acting yet again as puzzle-solving segments in which she must use light sources and torches to hold them at bay to progress. Near the end of the trailer, we also see large numbers of rats come bursting through a tower and cascading out in a sea of certain death.

For those looking to learn what is next in the adventures of Amicia de Rune through a plague-filled world, it was stated that A plague Tale: Requiem is slated for a 2022 release. The game will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Nintendo Switch (Cloud Version) and PC.
