During a live stream with Twitch streamer andyTHPS, Ex-Pro Skater Tony Hawk revealed that Activision had plans to develop a remastered collection of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 following the success of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2. However, these plans were canceled after Blizzard Entertainment acquired vicarious Visions. According to Hawk, Activision took pitches from various developers but was unsatisfied with them. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Epic Games Store.A transcription of the full interaction between Hawk and andyTHPS during the live stream via Gematsu, can be seen below:
andyTHPS: “If there’s a [remastered version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater] 3 and 4 or whatever, you know how to reach me.”
Tony Hawk: “Yeah, I mean, that was the plan. Even up until the release date of this [Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2], we were going 3 and 4. And then Vicarious got kind of absorbed, and then they were looking for other developers, and then it was over.”
andyTHPS: Did Activision just not have faith in it?
Hawk: “They were actually—I mean, the truth of it is they were trying to find someone to do 3 and 4, but they just didn’t trust anyone the way that they did Vicarious. So they took other pitches from other studios. Like what would you do with the [Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater] title? And they didn’t like anything they heard. And then that was it.
“I wish there was someway to bring it back. I mean, who knows? Maybe when all the dust settles, we’ll figure it out.”
