Agog Labs Joins Epic Games

Epic Games continues with incorporating talent to its Unreal Team, today the developer has just announced the acquisition of Agog Labs and it’s confirmed that they will be working on exciting new projects with the Unreal Engine team.

Here at Agog Labs our goal has always been to create authoring and development tools that allow people to focus on bringing their passionate imaginings to life. We melt our brains so you don’t have to. Epic has the same goals and spark of mad science, which makes it easy to align our paths. We’re honored to become part of the Epic family.

While we will cease active development of SkookumScript, our powerful scripting solution and command console used for game development, it remains available as a community-supported plugin for Epic’s Unreal Engine 4.

Awarded an Unreal Dev Grant in 2015, SkookumScript is used to create AI, gameplay and high-level stage-direction aspects of projects of all types across major platforms. Its live workflow includes robust yet simple and easy-to-learn features, native game concepts such as concurrency with minimal lines of code, and deep integration with Blueprints and C++. To try SkookumScript, download it or get it from the Unreal Marketplace.

Yesterday Epic Games announced the acquisition of adeveloper of hyper-realistic humans,  3Lateral studios which will also be working with Unreal Team, its reported that Epic Games also is looking to set for recruiting technical and creative talent from all over the world, add all this efforts to Epic Games Store and we find that Epic Games will become a powerhouse in the industry in the near future.

What’s next for Epic Games?, I would love to see them following with Slightly Mad Studios footsteps and joining in the console market, it would be perfect as Epic Games Store is giving developers more revenue than Steam and offering them a chance for Cross-Play functionality, and owning perhaps one of the best game engines in the world surely will be very tempting from lots of developers.
