The Game Awards 2024 recently ended and featured a slew of game announcements, trailers, and more. In case you didn’t catch everything, we’ve broken down every major announcement, trailer, and gameplay reveal that the event had to offer.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Announced
At The Game Awards, Sony and developer Naughty Dog announced their highly rumored unknown title directed by Neil Druckmann to be Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. It will launch for PlayStation 5. A release date was not announced. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet “puts players into the role of Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria—a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago.”
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
At The Game Awards, Capcom released a trailer announcing Onimusha: Way of the Sword. It will launch sometime in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. In the game, players “Fight through bloodbaths of intense swordplay action. Explore the historic Japanese capital of Edo-era Kyoto, twisted by malevolent clouds of Malice.”
genDesign Unnammed Title Announced
Fumito Ueda, the developer behind Ico and Shadow of the Colossus has announced a new game with Epic Games Publishing and developer genDesign. The unnamed title will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Epic Games Store. The trailer shows an unknown character in a mysterious science fiction world piloting a flying vehicle extracted from the body of a giant mech, in an attempt to escape from an unknown threat. A release date was not announced.
Elden Ring Nightreign announced with a trailer
During The Game Awards, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware released a trailer announcing Elden Ring Nightreign. The game is a standalone survival multiplayer co-op RPG. It will launch sometime in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. In the game, players “join forces with other players to take on the creeping night and the dangers within featuring three-player cooperative play.”
The Witcher IV officially announced
Split Fiction annouced with gameplay trailer
Publisher Electronic Arts and developer Hazelight announced the co-op adventure game Split Fiction. It will launch on March 6, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. An announcement trailer was also released. Split Fiction is “an action adventure game that pushes the boundaries of the co-op genre further than ever.”
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC release date
During The Game Awards, Square Enix announced that the PC version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will launch on January 23, 2025 via Steam and Epic Games Store. An announcement trailer was also released.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
At the event, SEGA also announced Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. It will also launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC Steam and Epic Games Store. A short teaser trailer was released, but a release date was not announced.
Borderlands 4 first look trailer
Publisher 2K and developer Gearbox Software released a new first look trailer for Borderlands 4. It showcases the characters, enemies, environments, and more. Borderlands 4 will launch in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.
Tekken 8 DLC character Clive Rosfiel
Bandai Namco has announced the Tekken 8 DLC character Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI. He will launch on December 16 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam alongside the Phoenix Gate level for Year 1 Pass. It will launch fully on December 20.
The Outer Worlds 2 release date
Publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer Obsidian Entertainment announced The Outer Worlds 2 will launch sometime in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. The first gameplay trailer detailing several of the game’s elements was also released.
Okami Sequel Announced
Capcom and developer Clovers announced the Okami Sequel. The developer is a new studio founded by Hideki Kamiya who is set to direct the sequel. A teaser trailer was released, but additional details were not.
The First Berserker: Khazan release date
Publisher Nexon and developer Neople announced The First Berserker: Khazan will launch on March 27, 2025. A cinematic trailer announcing the release date was also released. A demo for the game will also launch on January 16.
New Virtua Fighter title announced
Publisher SEGA and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio released a new teaser trailer announcing a new untitled Virtua Fighter currently in development. Additional details was not announced, but SEGA will host a Virtua Fighter Direct 2024 live stream to reveal more details.
Project Century Announced with trailer
Publisher SEGA and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have announced Project Century via a trailer. It is a “brand-new concept” for the developer. The trailer shows the unnamed protagonist fighting several Yakuza members and random fighters in beat em up fashion. Additional details were not announced.
Double Dragon Revive release date
Publisher Arc System Works and developer Yuke’s announced that Double Dragon Revive will launch on October 23, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are available now and a pre-order trailer was released.
Mafia: The Old Country trailer and release window
Publisher 2K and developer Hangar 13 announced that Mafia: The Old Country will launch in summer 2025. A trailer showcasing several gameplay elements was also released.
Dispatch Announced
AdHoc Studio announced Dispatch. From the writers and directors of Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us, Dispatch is a superhero workplace comedy set in modern day Los Angeles. The game features voices of several great and notable actors and influencers including Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, MoistCr1TiKaL, Jacksepticeye, Alanah Pearce, and more.
