Alone in the Dark Delayed to January 16 “To Avoid Competing With the Wake of Alan’s Epic Release”

Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Pieces Interactive have announced that the upcoming survival horror reboot Alone in the Dark has been delayed from its initial October 25 to January 16, 2024 “to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man.” Alone in the Dark will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and GOG.The full message from THQ Nordic regarding the delay via a press release:“Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man. We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible. To honor this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October.”

The game’s details via the publisher can be seen below:

Discovering that her uncle has gone missing, Emily Hartwood goes looking for him with the help of private investigator Edward Carnby. Arriving at Derceto Manor, a home for the mentally fatigued, they encounter strange residents, portals to nightmarish worlds, dangerous monsters—and ultimately a plot of rising evil and its followers.

Key Features

While presenting a completely original story, we incorporate characters, places, and themes from the 90s original trilogy.

Play as Edward or Emily and uncover Derceto’s mysteries from two perspectives, including completely different cutscenes and levels.

Set in the gothic American south in the 1920s, the game features a noir-setting with classical Lovecraftian horror elements, where the familiar meets the surreal.

Experience a deep psychological story that goes beyond the realms of the imaginable, by Mikael Hedberg, cult horror writer of SOMA and Amnesia.

Trapped inside the gothic mansion, you encounter mind bending anomalies and fight back the evil that has infiltrated the house…
