Alpha Protocol is one of the games that if you even haven’t played it so far, you will remember it because of its breath-taking cinematic trailer at E3 2009. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by SEGA, Alpha Protocol is a third-person RPG title set in a modern world with lots of action-packed scenes and stealth elements that was promising a great experience, though it failed to deliver such a breath-taking experience.
Now, nearly 9 years after the release of Alpha Protocol, the game has pulled out of the Steam due the expiration of publishing rights for it that was in the hands of SEGA. Now, Obsidian Entertainment officially owns the publishing rights for Alpha Protocol and some say the studio might release it again on Epic Games Store with an overhaul on graphics, though it’s just a rumor that you better take with a grain of salt.
Don’t wait for a sequel to Alpha Protocol from Obsidian Entertainment, since SEGA still owns the IP despite losing the publishing privilege. SEGA stated:
Following the expiry of SEGA’s publishing rights for Alpha Protocol, the title has been removed from Steam and is no longer on sale.
Alpha Protocol was launched for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2010. The game received mediocre reviews and didn’t performed as it expected.
