has reportedly told some customers that its pre-order for the Xbox Series X can’t be fulfilled until December. The information was sent via an email in the past day confirming low on stock units.
Here is what Amazon is sending to some Xbox Series X customers:
Hello, we’re contacting you with an update regarding your order of Xbox Series X. We expect to ship your console in the coming weeks as we receive more inventory in November and December. At this time, we anticipate that you will receive your Xbox Series X by December 31, 2020 or before. We are making every effort to get it to you as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.
Amazon Help adds more details about the unfortunate delay in shipments.
Due to high demand, consoles will ship as inventory continues to arrive throughout November and December. You will receive an email notification when your order has shipped. You can track the latest shipment status of your order here: amzn.to/NAYourOrders.
Microsoft has contacted GamesIndustry.biz and has stated that Xbox is working to replenish stock as soon as possible. Xbox encourages customers to keep an eye with local retailers for more availability.
“We have seen overwhelming global demand from our fans for the next generation of Xbox and are working tirelessly with our retail partners to replenish Xbox hardware as quickly as possible,” they said. “We can’t wait for fans to experience gaming on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Please check in with local retailers directly for more details on availability in your market.”
Amazon had already warned customers that due to high demand, next-gen shipment from Amazon to the user will see inevitably delays, PS5 customers received an email from the retailer warning about the possibility to not ship the order on launch day.
As some understandably furious customers affirm, the retailer seems to have oversold the units provided by Xbox. The situation is something that it’s not only affecting the U.S. and Amazon. A UK retailer also foresaw delays in Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 units.
“We have received the allocation details from Microsoft and, unfortunately, we regret to inform you that we will not be able to fulfil your pre-order on day one/release date.”

, players around the world want to get the most powerful console as soon as possible, and the allocation by country, shipment, and manufacture’s yield is a complicated topic that it’s not as clear as customers would like to be.
Sony Interactive Entertainment, trying to avoid delays and has booked sixty Delta planes to provide faster shipments of PS5 consoles from the manufacturing plants. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s CEO Jim Ryan promised that there will be more stock of next-gen consoles at launch than there were for the PS4.
