Amazon is sending e-mails to PS5’s pre-order customers warning the possibility of delays in the shipment. The letter has been confirmed by The Verge, Amazon suggests that delays might be inevitable due to the high demand.
Hello, We’re contacting you about your order of PlayStation 5 to let you know in advance that you may not receive this item on the day it is released due to high demand. We’ll make every effort to get the item to you as soon as possible once released.
Certainly, PS5’s Pre-Orders has been chaotic, Sony also added anxiety when it announced that some PlayStation users would have priority in the pre-orders. The company later affirmed that the start of pre-orders would be announced with anticipation.
This week, PlayStation announced the price of the next-gen console, some retailers like eBay decided to not respect PlayStation’s schedule for pre-orders and started to sell the PS5 hours before the official start.
The hype for the PS5 is real, and it can be demonstrated by how the retailers have sold out every unit they had available, some retailers’ websites couldn’t hold the traffic and collapsed, leading to more frustration. Games Industry reports that an invite-only pre-order was recently live with Sony managing customers directly, however it seems like all units have been sold after a few hours.
Is expected that Sony manages to have more units available between now and November 12. In order to satisfy the demand, Sony will be using air freight to prevent delays, insiders affirms that the company has booked 60 Delta planes to provide faster shipping of PS5 consoles. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s CEO Jim Ryan promised that there will be more stock of next-gen consoles at launch than there were for the PS4.
