AMD Big Navi GPU Reportedly Having 80 CUs – Rumor

The next-gen of GPUs is around the corner, PC players who are not pleased with the performance of next-gen consoles can get the most powerful gaming experience from the RTX 3080 and the AMD RDNA 2 ‘Big Navi’._RoGame, from the HardwareLeaks, and Komachi Ensaka claims that the ‘Nvidia killer’ will count with 80 CUs to defeat RTX and establish itself as the best gaming GPU in the market.

Disclaimer – This information has not been verified, therefore this is not factual.

As reported by PCGamesN, Komachi Ensaka teases an alleged configuration of the RDNA 2 architecture called ‘Sienna Cichild’, he posts an intriguing equation “10 (20)*4 : 80”.

If recent rumors are correct, ‘Sienne Cichlid’ could be Navi 21 _Rogame categorizes Navi 21’s as a “four shader engines”, “two shader arrays per shader engine”, “five workgroup processors / 10 CUs per shader array”, and “four render backends per shader engine” architecture. All that according to the versed in the GPU community could confirm the 80 CUs rumor.

Is important to mention that what’s being leaked is the maximum configuration for the upcoming AMD RDNA 2 ‘Big Navi’, the performance may vary to different models of cards, while AMD could beat NVIDIA it may not be the best bang for the buck. The NVIDIA Ampere is said to be 30.98% better than a stock RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition.

_ROGame also suggests that AMD is planning to offer three RDNA2 dies as part of the Navi2x family, it’s also known that even the smaller Navi23 die is around Navi10 die size. This means that AMD is bringing the big guns in the next era of GPU cards, but it’s still a mystery how will AMD will cover the entry-level GPU market.

Even if AMD will be present in each next-gen console, the company needs to face NVIDIA in the PC market, team green is rumored to be focusing right now on efficiency, as they are sure that in the following years they can vastly improve Ampere.
