Amsterdam 1666 Is Gonna Happen, Says the IP Owner

Patrice Desilets as one of the main developers behind Assassin’s Creed series, parted ways from Ubisoft to found his own studio back in 2014. Panache Game Studios announced its debut title at E3 2015 and as you know its Ancestors, an innovative games that will take you to 10 million years ago to show you the evolution of mankind based on Charles Darwin’s vision. However, before Ancestors, Desilets has another IP in his hands which according to him is still alive and will be developed some day.

Amsterdam 1666 was an IP that Patrice Desilets created when he was at THQ Montreal, but after his cancellation of project, Ubisoft came out of nowhere and stand against Desilets to save the IP for itself, however after so many legal fights between the two, Desilets succeeded to gain the rights for the IP. The game is something similar to Assassin’s Creed series that takes place in Amsterdam, following the story of a devil. Now that everything is going well for Panache and Desilets, the co-founder says that Amsterdam 1666 is still alive and he is thinking about it. He said:

You put the cape on the ape and you’re pretty good to do another game. If you think about it, climbing up a tree trunk, climbing a rock, climbing a building façade… It’s like now I’ve got a toolbox.

Now I am thinking about it a little bit. It’ll probably change a little bit. You were more like the devil’s apprentice than the actual devil. Once I finish this and then, ‘Okay what’s next?’ If it’s Amsterdam 1666, I’ll probably restart from scratch.

According to what Desilets said, it seems he is eager to continue what he once created in the past years, though he wants to improve his initial idea a little bit. Here is a gameplay footage of this cancelled game:
