Animal Crossing
is set to get two big content drops on November 5 that should add a decent amount of content. While players have been clamoring for a big drop of new content like this for most of the year, Nintendo has made clear that this will be the last for the game. A Nintendo spokesman stated of the upcoming 2.0 update:
The free update launching on Nov. 5 will be the last major free content update. We hope that players will continue enjoying their island life in real-time and throughout the changing seasons.
The update is set to bring back fan-favorite character Brewster, as well as his cafe The Roost which will be located in the museum for players that want to take a load off and enjoy some freshly brewed coffee. It will also be adding Gyroids that can be excavated, DIY cooking recipes, as well as mark the return of Kapp’n and his boat tours.
Announced alongside the 2.0 update a paid DLC called Happy Home Paradise was announced. A follow-up to the series spin-off Happy Home Designer, it will cost $24.99 to purchase or it can be bundled by purchasing the Nintendo Online + Expansion for $49.99. For fans worried now that free updates will be ending, that paid DLC will replace them, it does not seem that will be the case.
Happy Home Paradise was announced as the first paid DLC for the game, but it will also be the last. A Nintendo representative to IGN about the DLC, stating:
It is a major update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and offers a distinguishing and different gameplay experience. therefore, it made sense to include it as the first and only paid DLC for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
While there might still be timed seasonal events it looks like Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be winding down come November 5. The game sold extremely well when it was released, in part due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic meaning a follow-up is definitely something to look forward to.
