Annual Release is a Key Part of Call of Duty Series, Says Activision

It’s been a while that Activision has chosen an annual plan to release new entries for Call of Duty series with three different studios working on the franchise. While in the early years of the current generation Call of Duty titles didn’t do well, they began to get reformed since COD: World War 2, still with the same annual-release policy, which is not supposed to change anytime soon, according to Activision.

When it comes to sports games, developers have to plan for annual releases due to the ever-changing nature of the real-world sports, but for shooting games there’s no force to bring a new title every year. However, Activision is following the same policy for Call of Duty series over the past decade and it doesn’t seem to come to an end, as a spokesman from the company declared that annual release is a key part of Call of Duty franchise.

Generally, using annual release method will bring hefty earnings for the publisher, but on the other hand, it will lower the value of the game for players. You can pay $60 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and play it for a year, while you can pay the same amount of money for Battlefield V and play it for two years. So, if the developer could be able to support the game with well-paced release of new contents within a long-term plan, this would benefit both the players and publishers.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the next entry of the series, will be available on October 25. Also, we’ve heard of some rumors on next year’s Call of Duty claiming it will be set in Cold War era.
