Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends is now available on Nintendo Switch, the game runs at a low 1024 x 576 in handheld mode and 1280 x 720 on docked mode. The game runs at 30FPS which is a significant downgrade compared to the consoles’ edition and the PC version.
This release will certainly not get the attention of competitive players who are used to run the game at 60 FPS with hardcore players targeting at least 90FPS. The casual player will also be disappointed to see a game with decent graphics running at an ancient resolution.
The limitations of the game are harsher on Nintendo Switch Lite as the handheld console cannot be connected to a TV and players will be stuck running the game at 576p resolution.
“Porting Apex Legends to its smallest screen yet is a major achievement, and we couldn’t have done it without our friends at Panic Button,” says Chad Grenier, Game Director on Apex Legends adding that they’re “very proud of what the team has been able to achieve with some smart optimizations for the Switch port to deliver a full-featured Apex Legends experience on the go.”
Apex Legends support for cross-platform play, the latest seasonal content, and also full feature parity with the other versions of the game. Players on Nintendo Switch can catch up to other players with two weeks of double XP.
