ARK Survival Evolved Launches An ARKaeology In-Game Event

Developer Studio Wildcard is launching a new in-game event for its action-adventure dinosaur survival game, ARK Survival Evolved.

The event will run beginning today on all platforms until July 15th. As you traverse along the ground on any of the maps (the Island, The Center, Ragnarok, Aberration or Scorched Earth) you will come across fossil mounds which you are able to excavate. Inside the mounds, you’ll find a few bones and if you’re lucky you’ll even find extra loot inside of one (signified by a special particle effect)! After you collect enough bones you’ll be able to craft several skins with the use of a Cooking Pot.

The ARKaeology event also brings with it the sci-fi themed battle beast – the Tek Rex – for players to tame, ride and breed. Tek Rex is, as the name implies, a rare, specially armored T-Rex that can achieve a higher level than its standard brethren.

“These collectible skins include the popular “Skeleton Dinos” from previous Fear Evolved events, along with the following: -Dilophosaurus Mask (Hat Skin)
Brachiosaurus (Brontosaurus Costume)
Stygimoloch (Pachycephalosaurus Costume)
Styracosaurus (Triceratops Costume)

Since its launch into Steam’s early access program in June 2015, ARK Survival Evolved features over 13 Million survivors have been stranded on the ARK island, wandering into an incredible land to discover how to tame, train, ride, and breed over 100 dinosaurs and primeval creatures roaming the land.

Studio Wildcard was co-founded in 2014 by industry veteran Jeremy Stieglitz and Jesse Rapczak, former Technical Art Director at Microsoft Game Studios, with the mission of bringing AAA quality to ambitious indie productions that are designed for core gamers.

With combined 25 years of industry experience across multiple independent and studio-backed titles, Jeremy and Jesse have teamed up with other veteran developers for Seattle, WA-based and Gainesville, FL-based development studios that also include distributed team members across multiple continents. Wherever talented, driven developers may reside, Studio Wildcard intends to seek out and work with them.”
