The movie, like the games, is based around the concept of a machine called the Animus, which unlocks genetic memory to allow the user to relive the memories of their ancestors. The Animus is the latest weapon in an ancient war between two factions, the Templars and the Assassins, who seek to possess and control artefacts of enormous power that are hidden across the world.
With just two months left before Assassin’s Creed arrives in theaters, 20th Century Fox has unveiled the second official trailer for the movie.
Check out the Trailer:
“While this all sounds promising enough, with a recent runtime announcement that further sends hope that Fox really wants a good film to come out of this, at the end of the day, it still is a movie based on a video game and that has not proven to be a solid baseline for excitement. Yes, it has Fassbender leading a strong cast and Kurzel has a cinematic voice that should allow the film to look interesting – but is that enough to be truly excited by the film’s potential to be better than just okay?
Hopefully it can be a good-great action flick. There is certainly enough mythology in this series to come up with something cinematically interesting to see play out. Perhaps the upcoming trailer will have a lot more to offer beyond some stylish action scenes. Whatever the case may be, the bar has never been that high to cross when it comes to getting a really good video game-based movie. Hopefully it will be more than a leap of faith to see things coming out strong.”
