Assassin’s Creed Origins confirmed – E3 2017

Assassin’s Creed Origins is confirmed for release Oct. 27 on Xbox One X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

In the game you play as Ba Yek, an Egyptian sheriff who does the kinds of assassiny-type thinks you’d expect, but in much more beautiful and precise detail based on what Ubisoft showed at the conference. The game depicts Yek’s struggle against the forces “corrupting ancient Egypt,” with that struggle eventually leading to the formation of the Assassin Brotherhood featured throughout previous games.

Combat will be more difficult as enemies are stronger and do not die from one strike of the hidden blade anymore, but you can deflect arrows with your shield and collect them when they get stuck in it. There is an adrenaline gauge which builds while you fight and, when full, can be used to unleash a powerful attack. Eagle vision returns, along with an actual eagle named Senu, but it doesn’t highlight enemies this time—only objects. Multiple arrows can be fired at once, even while riding a horse or camel.

Additionally, there are legendary items to loot, sunken ships to explore, dead bodies to poison, and wild animals to tame and sic on enemies a la Far Cry. Puzzles return, but are promised to be more difficult and without switches. No competitive multiplayer will be featured once again, but Ubisoft is suggesting some sort of multiplayer connection in the single player campaign.

Check out the Trailer:

Battles look relatively unchanged from older Assassin’s Creed titles, although arrows and other projectile weapons appear to stick around longer in the sides of your enemies and wildlife. Talking of wildlife, basing a game in Egypt offers up plenty of animals beyond the equestrian kind: Elephants, leopards, hyenas and something resembling a giant water snake all get a quick tease, and it appears that some animals will work with Bayek, while others (most of ’em) will want a fight.
