, the educational mode coming to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, will be available as a free expansion to the game on October 19th. A standalone version of the game will be made available on the same day for 19.99 on PC, with this version coming to consoles early next year.
The mode has become a staple of the franchise, launching for Egypt set Assassin’s Creed Origins, as well as Greece, set Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Since the franchise is based around historical events, as well as historical figures it only made sense a mode like this would eventually come to the franchise as a whole.
In past iterations of the mode, players were given free rein to explore the world, taking tours located around the map. You could also interact with objects in-game to explore their origins. This time around the experience will be more narrative-driven, allowing players to “step into the shoes of Viking and Anglo-Saxon characters from the time while living out their stories and adventures”.
Like the modes of the past, it will not focus on the fictitious struggle between the templars and assassins that form the main story. However, those that are interested in the time period, maybe even though writing their own story set in the age of Vikings, are sure to learn interesting information.
Since the game launched nearly a year ago it has continued to grow its experience immensely. They have added three free seasonal festivals, two big paid expansions, on top of a handful of other modes. They have also confirmed that the game will receive a year 2 season pass, something that has not happened for an Assassins Creed game before.
There are definitely enough reasons to jump back to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and this Discovery Tour should be the icing on the cake.
