Astral Chain Director Details Gameplay Mechanics Similarities To Other Platinum Titles

The latest title coming out of Platinum Games, Astral Chain, is looking like a heavy hitter for the Switch console. There’s plenty of familiarity in what we’ve seen in the game so far, and it appears that those similarities are present on purpose. In a recent interview with the game’s director, Takahisa Taura, it was revealed that the new title will have a striking similarity stuck in between the Bayonetta series and Nier: Automata.

Check out the interview video below:

Takahisa Taura on the gameplay design of Astral Chain, “right in the middle of Bayonetta and NieR: Automata.” He also iterated on the new feature in the game which allows players to take control of two characters at once, dubbing the feature “dual action”.

Astral Chain is set to release exclusively on the Switch on August 30, 2019. You can check out a new gameplay video of the game right here.
