A new trailer for the upcoming action sci-fi game Atomic Heart has received a new trailer, offering crazy action, floating cities, and a release window for the game. The trailer was released exclusively through IGN’s youtube channel in collaboration with developer and publisher Mundfish.
The trailer offers a better look at the world the game is set in, in which through something called The Collective people can get implanted with tech that helps with anything from controlling objects with your mind, to helping you learn Chinese (though they do not state which of the Chinese languages.) All of this is explained to the audience by the creepiest-looking robots with no facial expression.
The main character is equipped with an experimental glove that is showcased through the first-person gameplay. Combat plays out similar to that of the Bioshock franchise, with one hand being used for conventional weapons while his glove can use magic-like powers that diversify the gunplay.
Of course, similar to the other trailers for the game, it isn’t long before the whole thing goes off the rails, quite literally in the case of one train featured throughout. Crazy enemies, bizarre setting that wraps around him, and the powers showcased all help to make this a memorable 3-minute long experience.
The final portion is dedicated to revealing when Atomic Heart will finally be available, after being showcased in 2018. It confirmed that it will be launching in 2022, though only offered the letters ‘BER’ for the month. This would place the release window in the last four months of the year. With the horror roots in the game, October might be the month we are looking at, but there is no certainty.
Atomic Heart will be available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
