Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access Delayed

Larian Studios announced today the delay for the Early Access of Baldur’s Gate 3, the development team needs one more week to remove bugs from the game. In an official statement, the studio reveals what are they trying to accomplish with the release of the Early Access demo.

Our guiding principle for early access is that it’s fine for there to be smaller bugs or a few things that are lacking polish, but it needs to offer a fun gameplay experience with as few crashes as possible.

One of the reasons behind the delay is also to ensure that players around the world can enjoy Early Access. Larian will use the extra week to “triple-check” stability and localization issues.

We’re nearly there but we had a few unexpected delays, and we still have some stability issues we’re sifting through. because of the delays, our translations are also later than expected and we wan to ensure localization for the announced Early Access languages is strong enough for our international fans to have a good time.

The game still has to pass the “World Tester”.The World tester is a sort of AI super-gamer that plays through the game at incredible speed, stress testing everything, and pushing it to its limits. The super-gamer is currently playing through, and the results are looking good but not perfect yet. We know that if the super-gamer doesn’t break the game, there’s less chance you will.”

Larian Studios received key information of the “World Tester”, the development team is now confident of the PC minimum requirements for running the game.

  • Processor: Intel i5-4690 / AMD FX 4350
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 780 / AMD Radeon R9 280X
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 70 GB available space

Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access Demo will now launch on October 6, on Steam. The demo will through Act 1 of the game, according to Larian Studios, is “approximately 25 hours of self-contained content”. Six player classes are supported and 9 races/subraces with more to be added later.
