It seems that Warner Bros has delayed the release of Batman: Return to Arkham indefinitely.
“After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience,” Warner Bros. staff Steve Grayson said on the W.B. Games Forums. “We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready. We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans.”
While it’s admirable for Warner Bros to allow developer Virtuous more time, we wish it extended the same courtesy towards the PC port of Arkham Knight. Speaking of which, we won’t be surprised if Warner Bros announces a date for the Arkham Knight Game of The Year Edition soon enough.
Batman: Return To Arkham will only feature HD remakes of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City ; the two Rockstead-helmed Arkham titles originally released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The bundle won’t include Arkham Origins , which was developed by WB Games Montreal, or last year’s Batman: Arkham Knight . While the former’s omission isn’t shocking, given Rocksteady’s general refusal to acknowledge its existence, it’s a bit surprising to see Arkham Knight excluded. Even if the game was already released on current-gen platforms. We’re also a bit surprised to see that Batman: Return To Arkham doesn’t look like it’s getting a PC release. It’s not entirely shocking, given the numerous issues surrounding Arkham Knight ’s debut, but the news is still sure to disappointment diehard fans who prefer PC gaming.
