Last night, several people took to Twitter to suggest that they are hearing that the upcoming multiplayer game Battlefield 2042 is going to be hit with a delay While the consensus seemed to be that the game would be delayed what was unclear was how long the game might be delayed for.

Hot off the heels of Dying Light 2: Stay Human which delayed itself yet again into 2022, Jeff Grubb took to Twitter to say that we were entering “delay season”. He then clarified in that same tweet thread that he was referring mainly to one single delay yet to come. He did not clarify what game he was talking about, which he was possibly holding back for his podcast.
While he did not state the game another did soon after, stating that Battlefield 2042 was about to get delayed. This tweet came from Dealer Gaming, another high-profile person that often gets insider information. He tweeted this out with a gif from the movie 1917.
Dealer stated that the game will be getting delayed into 2022. This would put it among good company as a large number of games this year have already seen delay into the next year. And if you think this is enough people piling on to confirm this rumor, Shpeshal Nick was asked about the above tweet and commented that he has heard the same.
As he states, he is hearing a delay will hit the game but that it isn’t necessarily leaving 2021. This would mean that the delay might only hold the game back a month or two, as the game is already set to launch near the end of the year.
As of yet, we have yet to get an official word on if the title will be delayed. With this many people on it, all of whom having solid track records, it is looking like it is a matter of when and not if.
