has been delayed a month, and with that shift in timeframe came the question of when we could expect the Open Beta to release. The company made a point to inform the public that the announcement of those dates was imminent, though they were not ready to discuss them yet. After a short wait, they have finally given us the dates that most of us can try out the big battle multiplayer game for the first time.
The open beta has been confirmed to be occurring on October 8-9, with these dates being available for all players across all systems. Anyone who is an EA Play member or has preordered the game will get access to this beta 2 days earlier, starting on October 6.
Battlefield 2042 will serve as a return to the more classic format that the franchise used. The game will drop the single-player component of the last few games, instead of focusing on the big battle playgrounds the series has long since known for. They have upped the player counts on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC allowing for matches to contain up to 128 players, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will only contain 64 players.
The game will also feature a community-driven mode called Battlefield Portal in which players will be able to create their own game modes using characters, guns, and more from other Battlefield games. In the more traditional modes, the game will also incorporate new weather mechanics such as tornadoes that can affect your match, destroying everything in their path. Each player character will also have abilities to help diversify gameplay and how the character can interact with their environment and team.
Battlefield 2042 will now be available on November 19, 2021, for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation4, PlayStation5, and PC via Origin, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
