Battlefield 5 Mercury Map Releases This Week
The new Battlefield 5 Mercury Map is going to be released on May 30th for free as part of the Tides of War Chapter 3. The map takes place in the Mediterranean and is based on 1941’s Operation Mercury or the Battle of Crete.
DICE describes the map to focus on, “verticality, all-out war and asymmetrical vehicle forces.” This means that the German forces will take their Luftwaffes to the skies while American forces will make use of their tanks on the ground.
It seems that the map will make full use of players’ weapons as Dice says that, “There’s a place in the map for SMGs to clash with shoguns, while Recon players can snipe at Support players, who in turn suppress enemies with their LMGs.”
Battlefield 5 was released on PlayStation4, PC, and Xbox One in November and focuses on the lesser-known battles of World War II. As the game launched the game added new content and features such as The Last Tiger mission that added new story content and Firestorm which is Battlefield 5’s version of battle royale modes.
Battlefield is to release more content up to Fall 2019 according to their roadmap. The game will include a new Outpost mode in June which will continue on with the Up Close and Personal update, the new Marita map, and a new Urban Combat map. The details about these new features are unknown, but it seems like DICE seems to have a good roadmap for the future.
As the new map will release soon, players should prepare themselves for chaotic air combat, intense ground combat, and an overall big and destructive firefight between both teams. Hopefully the new map will add something new for Battlefield 5 players with how versatile the map can be all around.
