Battlefield VI Could Launch on Xbox Game Pass – Rumor

Battlefield VI

could be released on Day 1 for Xbox Game Pass and EA Play subscribers according to a new rumor.

On a recent episode of The XboxEra Podcast, Shpeshal Ed affirmed that Xbox Game Pass will see the launch of a AAA first-person shooter in Fall 2021.

Jon Clarke, Co-Founder, and Editor in Chief of XboxEra add that when Ed said “triple-A, third party, first-person shooter,” there are only two franchises releasing games in 2021, suggesting that the game coming to Xbox Game Pass it’s either the upcoming Call of Duty or Battlefield VI.

“My other bet would be Battlefield VI because the EA Play relationship already exists,” Clarke explained. “And I’m sure Microsoft are sharing lots and lots of lovely numbers on what it does for a player base when you’ve got 20 million people immediately available to play your game.”

Certainly, Xbox and Electronic Arts do have a good relationship that it’s showing promising signs with the upcoming release of EA Sports FIFA 21 on Xbox Game Pass. It’s important to mention that both, Clarke and Ed are assuming that EA Play will give away Battlefield VI for subscribers in the first place.

Electronic Arts’ subscription service EA Play is described as “the ultimate game destination for anyone who loves EA titles.” Unlike Xbox Game Pass, subscribers only sign up for a catalog of Electronic Arts games, discounts, rewards, and exclusive trials for new releases. Fans can only expect a free ten-hour trial or even less for the upcoming FPS.

It’s also possible that Phil Spencer and its team manages to convince Electronic Arts to release the game for free on Xbox Game Pass, something that could help the franchise to reach its highest user count on consoles and receive more revenues from microtransactions.

It’s rumored that Battlefield VI will feature a battle royale mode, something that suits perfectly the rumored free-to-play strategy of both companies. The game would feature a massive 128 player multiplayer with destructible cities if recent leaks prove to be accurate.
