Bayonetta 2 on Switch Has Outsold Its Sister Version On Wii U
Nintendo revealed during the company’s financial presentation, that the Switch version of Bayonetta 2 have already managed to outsell the Wii U version of the game in just two months. This feat is incredible, given that the Wii U version of the game was the first appearance of Bayonetta in a Nintendo console.
The Bayonetta 2 port to the popular Nintendo handheld console was made, so gamers would get a chance to experience the adventures that they may have missed on the Wii U. This success could encourage Nintendo to look for other franchises or games to port on the system, especially if the port could have the same success as Bayonetta did on the Switch.
Here’s a graph showing the total sell-through of Bayonetta 2 immediately after its February release for Nintendo Switch, in comparison to the sell-through for the same period of time following its 2014 release for Wii U. As you can see, the Nintendo Switch version of this title quickly got past the original Wii U version:
NintendoLife said in an article on their website:
“A report released by Nintendo in the wake of its most recent fiscal results shows just how well the Bayonetta sequel fared during its February release. According to the sell-through figures, the Switch port shifted almost 400K units, while the Wii U version didn’t even break 300K back in 2014. Both figures combine stats from North America, Europe and Japan.”
Bayonetta 1 and 2 are available now on the Nintendo Switch, as well as the Wii U. You can also play the first Bayonetta on Xbox 360, Xbox One and PlayStation 3, although Bayonetta 2 is exclusive to Nintendo platforms.
