Bayonetta 3’s Development “Going Very Well”

Bayonetta 3’s Development “Going Very Well”

Hideki Kamiya and Atsushi Inaba have declared to be very satisfied with the work they are doing on Bayonetta 3 Nintendo Switch.

Although we’re still awaiting more specific details on the game, Kamiya and Inaba have previously described the game as “a turning point for the company”, knowing that fans expect the new title to “raise the bar”. It’s certainly an exciting time for fans of the series, but you might just have to make do with the titular character’s appearance in Super Smash Bros.

In related news, Kamiya discussed the origins of how Bayonetta’s gun heels came to be. He originally thought about having guns and using them both to shoot and hit enemies. After talking about the idea to the animator, Kamiya was given a suggestion that since Bayonetta could hit enemies with her guns, players should be able to kick them as well.

Bayonetta 3 is currently in development for Nintendo Switch.

The news comes from a stage event (via Dualshockers) at the Bitsummit Roadshow: Tokyo event, where  PlatinumGames’ own Hideki Kamiya and Atsushi Inaba talked up the game’s development progress. The creators noted the game is “on course” and that everyone on their team is “in sync.”

“It’s nice to be able to tell you that everything is going very, very well. We’re all very excited about what we’re doing on that game,” the developers noted.

A fun tidbit from the panel was original director Kamiya noting the idea for the game came from his want to have a protagonist wield guns and be able to both shoot and hit enemies with their guns. He then proposed the idea to an animator, who then came up with the idea to have Bayonetta hit enemies with her guns by letting her kick with them too – thus gun heels were conceived.
