Bayonetta And Corrin DLC Releases On February 3 for Super Smash Bros Wii U And 3DS

Bayonetta And Corrin DLC Releases On February 3 for Super Smash Bros Wii U And 3DS

Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS will soon receive an interesting double-shot of new playable characters. Bayonetta from her own series and Corrin from all three versions of Fire Emblem: Fates are going to be the newest challengers. Nintendo recently published a couple of woefully short game play videos revealing a bit of what the two are capable of in action.

The first video shows a four player free-for-all match featuring these new combatants along with Pit of the Kid Icarus series and Marth from Fire Emblem. This match takes place in what is presumably Bayonetta’s stage which is a large chunk of the clock tower falling and flying through the air. With the stage floor and the accompanying set dressings in the background, it is a neat callback to a pivotal fight sequence from the first Bayonetta. There is also a look at her final smash in which she summons a demon Gohmorra to wreak all sorts of havoc upon the others. For anyone curious about whether or not she actually loses her clothes during this evocation, it appears that she does not. The people involved with her implementation have masked this element possibly because of its risque nature. Bayonetta can even summon Hekatoncheir for her attacks and uses her customary heel pistols for low smash attacks.

The other small snippet of footage shows a one-on-one match between Bayonetta and Corrin on his or her stage. Stating ‘his or her’ would be the correct way to phrase it because, in similar fashion of Fire Emblem: Fates, you can actually pick Corrin’s sex before starting a match. Corrin is played in his male form in both videos, but this information is evidence by art for the characters as depicted by the Super Smash team.

Corrin’s attacks are mostly sword based and he or she uses it for smash attacks. His or her final smash involves transforming into a dragon and unleashing a powerful breath weapon blast. This fighter’s stage looks to be a relatively simple layout with just one main platform of intermediate size. While the background has a well wrought vista in reference to the sourced game’s ambiguously medieval style, there is not as much going on when compared to Bayonetta’s stage. Regardless of this detail, both characters appear to be quite nimble and have visually impressive move sets. Fortunately, gamers looking to get their hands these new additions will not have very long to wait. Both Bayonetta and Corrin along with their related DLC will be available on February 3, 2016.
