Despite it only being February of the new year, Bethesda is already trying to get folks contemplating on about what they will be showing off at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo in June. The company’s official twitter along with that of Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines unleashed this blue and white image showing an array of cartoon renditions of the company’s intellectual properties. Like the year before, the Bethesda Showcase pre-E3 press conference will be happening on June 12; one day before E3 proper begins.
There is much to speculate on. One could think, with the presence of the Nord warrior from Skyrim, that there is another numbered Elder Scrolls game over currently in the works. I feel that this would be highly unlikely because of the need to polish Fallout 4 with updates, which include the DLC that they are undoubtedly working on. For anyone looking for a Fallout 5 announcement, that would be ludicrous. In this world of computers and consoles with internet connections and hard drives, no one in triple A game development does that sort of thing anymore. As for Doom 4 or simply Doom, it is already in the works through Id Software proper. They will probably show off some more of the Snap Map feature and possibly indulge us with another graphic display of gory goodness and end with a concrete release date for the game.
What I would like to see more of is Dishonored 2. At the Bethesda Showcase of last year they barely showed anything on the at the media briefing. There was a nice looking trailer, but there was no game play attached to it and it is quite dubious that the visuals were achieved using anything that was in-engine. If Bethesda wants to keep members of the gaming community hoping for a followup to Dishonored then the time is just this coming June. That is what I hope will happen.
Bethesda definitely has to be ready to divulge what lies in store for Fallout 4 DLC ventures. They may have an Elder Scrolls teaser trailer, but it will only be an indication they are indeed thinking about it. A Doom release date is a must at this point and the same goes for Dishonored 2. Some game play footage reveal will definitely help drive interest in the sequel. However, it may be too early to know exactly what the folks over at Bethesda have in store for us this coming E3. In the meantime, we can always dream… within reason, of course.
(UPDATE: Id Software has beaten everyone to the punch and announced a concrete release date for Doom.)
Includes several titles.
