Bethesda VR Revealed at Bethesda’s E3 Press Conference

Today at the Bethesda’s E3 Press Conference it was revealed that the Studio is beginning the support on VR technology on their games, calling the project Bethesda VR. When VR first entered the scene in 2012 Bethesda was apparently fascinated, so they decided to try their hand at it.

The first games to be tested with this technology are DOOM – offering a virtual tour of its Hellish landscapes – and a first person world RPG experience with Fallout 4 allowing you the ability to interact with your Pip-Boy and even Dogmeat. These will be available for the HTC Vive, and will have demos at the E3.

Fallout 4 will head into VR in 2017 on HTC Vive Exclusively. No word has been said yet on Doom.

Check out the Bethesda’s E3 press conference where they talk about Bethesda VR and the games that will support it:

“Since we first showed off modern VR with DOOM 3 BFG at E3 2012, we have dedicated ourselves to the technology, constantly pushing ourselves forward,” said Bethesda VP of Marketing & PR Pete Hines.

We plan to release Fallout 4 for VR headsets within the next 12 months.

“We think that VR is the perfect fit for truly immersive games like our massive open-world RPGs,” Hines said. At BE3 Plus, attendees were given a taste of what’s to come, exploring the world of Fallout 4, using the game’s Pip-Boy and interacting with Dogmeat – all in full virtual reality. “If you thought Survival Mode was an intense Fallout experience… you ain’t seen nothing yet,” Hines said.

“Fallout 4’s upcoming VR release is just a glimpse of where Bethesda is headed with VR. It’s all part of Bethesda’s drive to remain a leader in cutting edge technology – including VR – and to offer fans the best games on whatever platform they choose.”
