Beyond Good And Evil 2 Gets Several Job Listings

Among the many games that have started to feel like Vaporware, Beyond Good And Evil 2 ranks pretty high. A largely ambitious game when originally showcased it suffered numerous setbacks including a series of allegations against Ubisoft Management, and the departure of series creator and director Michel Ancel which caused massive shakeups to the team working on the game.

Last showcased on Ubisoft‘s E3 stage in 2018, the game has remained quiet since then except for the occasional reminder that it has not been canceled. These reassurances have no doubt started to ring hollow for the fanbase that had at one point been very excited for the project.

Despite that, it does indeed look like the project is still in development. As spotted by Game Rant, Ubisoft is currently hiring for a number of positions associated with Beyond Good And Evil 2. Ubisoft’s Bordeaux, Montpellier, and Paris offices are currently hiring positions such as 3D programmer, vegetation technical artist, level artist to join “the Beyond Good & Evil 2 development team.”

Under the technical artist job listing the game is described as “one of the most innovative productions at Ubisoft”. Early gameplay showcases for the game featured large planets that could be explored in real-time before players could fly their ship off-world with zero loading screens. It also featured planets that revolved around the game’s sun in a realistic day and night cycle. While almost all of this was unrealistic to expect in the finished project, just what aspects of this the team plans to keep versus what they will cut remains to be seen.

What we do know is that back in July the company stated it was still “too early” to confirm any release schedule for the game. Most likely, similar to Ubisoft’s upcoming pirate game Skull & Bones, the game has either restarted development or is in the process of doing so. This would not be the first time Beyond Good And Evil 2 did so either, as the game was first showcased in 2008 with a very different concept.
