Black Desert Has Made More Than $1 Billion So Far

Multiplayer games can be reliable sources of money for developers, if they know how to support it in order to live as long as possible. Some developers like Valve, Blizzard and Epic Games know the way well enough to make tons of money with small range of productions, but aside from these big-heads, there are some other developers who are doing pretty well in making online multiplayer games, like Pearl Abyss, which reportedly has earned $1 billion from its Black Desert that released back in 2014, but still have a lot of active players.

According to a press release by Pearl Abyss, Black Desert has got 18 million registered players and a great amount of gamers like this, have granted the developers 1 billion dollars in gross revenue. Robin Jung, CEO of the studio, claimed that over 30 percent of the revenue has been achieved from mobile versions of the game which include iOS and Android, and it has encouraged the studio to make mobile versions available in more regions all over the world. Aside from mobile, Black Desert has got players from 150 countries all over the world from its PC and Xbox One versions. Jung said:

We’re proud of what this achievement represents – the hard work and dedication from our teams over the past four years and the support from a community of fans around the world. With over 30% of gross sales for Black Desert stemming from mobile platforms, which saw an initial release in Asia in the past year, we’re confident that sales are accelerating. Pearl Abyss is optimistic for the future of Black Desert and we look forward to launching Black Desert Mobile globally by the end of the year.

Black Desert is an MMO game that lets you to create your own character and enter its huge world to hunt monsters, team up with other players to capture castles and trade with them to improve your skills and get things that you think you need. It’s remastered version is now available on Steam for $9.99. The game is also on storefronts for Xbox One, but no PS4 version has been announced yet.
