Blizzard Hiring For New Diablo Project

Blizzard Hiring For New Diablo Project

According to its main website, Blizzard is gearing up for a new big project. The studio recently posted a new job listing for a new lighting artist. There are also job postings for a senior concept artist and a senior character artist. Whoever makes the cut on these three positions will be put on a project having to do with an unannounced project in the Diablo franchise. It is hard to believe that, with the Reaper of Souls expansion coming out over two years, this is another Diablo III DLC pack. This new talent has be for development on either the next numbered game or a spin-off, with the aforementioned being the most likely. Here is a small snippet of the lighting artist job listing:

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an exceptionally skilled and passionate lighting artist to craft the mood and drama surrounding new characters and never-before-seen worlds in our next hit game!

We’re looking for artists who demonstrate a strong understanding of how light, shadow, and color set the tone of an environment as well as guide the player. This position requires a creative and technically proficient approach to lighting based on gameplay, vision and conceptual illustrations. The ideal candidate shares our sensibilities and looks forward to the challenge of illuminating the dark medieval worlds of Diablo!

This is a bit of the senior character artist listing:

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an exceptionally skilled and passionate senior character artist for its next hit game!

As part of the character team you will work with concept artists, animators, designers, and engineers to create characters, creatures, and weapons in the Diablo universe. The ideal candidate understands that character work does not end in ZBrush, and can texture, surface and optimize just as well as they can sculpt. We hire people who collaborate well with equally passionate developers and share our love for games.

Lastly, here is the opening of the senior concept artist listing:

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking exceptionally skilled and passionate senior concept artists to help drive the vision of characters and worlds in our next hit game!

We’re looking for artists that are self-starting, versatile, and enjoy being part of a collaborative environment.  The ideal candidate shares our sensibilities, loves dark medieval worlds, and feels there are countless stories left to tell in the Diablo universe!

It is very exciting to know that Blizzard is planning on another Diablo title this early on. Perhaps the company will make a formal announcement at the next BlizzCon, E3 or Worldwide Invitational. However, given that this is Blizzard, we might not hear any substantial information of this next Diablo title for a couple of years at least.
