Borderlands 3 may not be out till 2020 as Take-Two hints at delay

Take Two announced during its quarterly financial briefing, that one highly anticipated title from 2K has been delayed to fiscal year 2020. While Take Two didn’t said the name of the game from 2K, people on the internet speculates that the game is Borderlands 3.

Take Two also said:

“The highly-anticipated title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises, which has been planned for release during the current fiscal year, is now planned for launch during fiscal 2020 to allow for additional development time.” Take Two added that the company “remain[s] as excited as ever about this title, and expect it to enhance our results next fiscal year.”

The delayed game that Take Two talks about, will be releasing between April 1st, 2019 and March 31st, 2020. Borderlands 3 has been a talked around the Internet, for some time now, and because the last time we heard about the upcoming game was around 2015, many fans are frustrated, because they have to wait a while to go back to the planet of Pandora.

GameRant said in an article on their website:

“Take Two wasn’t forthcoming on the reasons for the delay, only saying that it had been pushed “to allow for additional development time.” The executive also said that despite the delay, Take-Two remains “as excited as ever” for the title and expects it to “enhance” the company’s results in the next fiscal year.

Gearbox recently stated that Borderlands 3 will not be at E3 2018, addressing a slate of recent rumors that the game would have a major presence at the event. These rumors were in part fueled by teasing comments about a major franchise title made by Take-Two, so many appreciated that Gearbox had set the record straight.

If the game is skipping E3 2018, then it highlights that Borderlands 3 needs a bit more time in the development oven, as Take Two comments stated. The Borderlands franchise is known for its large, open-worlds full of fun gameplay and funny characters, and so Gearbox will want to take the appropriate steps to make sure that the game lives up to expectations. It has also been four years since the last Borderlands game (The Pre-Sequel was released in 2014) and that time away may have put more pressure on the development team to get it right.”
