It’s going to be Epic Games Store’s first anniversary of launch soon and the platform still doesn’t have the feature for pre-loading games. To be honest, this is not a big deal to add such a feature, which is now available within most of the consoles and PC clients like Steam. Unfortunately, Tim Sweeney confirmed that the feature won’t be added until September 13th, when Borderlands 3 will be launched.
When it comes to features and capabilities of a PC client, Epic Games Store fails to meet the expectations for a standard platform. Maybe heads of the company offer too much money to publishers that they couldn’t invest on their own platform, though I think that’s not the case.
Yesterday, when a Borderlands fan asked head of Epic Games on if the pre-load will be added to the service before the launch of Gearbox’s upcoming shooter, Tim Sweeney said:
I’m sorry, we won’t have support for preloading in the Borderlands release timeframe.

This also means that Control won’t feature the same thing on Epic Games Store as well. Obviously, Epic Games needs to develop its client and update it with more new features if it wants to compete with Steam shoulder to shoulder.
Borderlands 3 will be available on September 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. You can check out its opening 14 minutes here, or have a look at the vault hunter Amara.
