According to Kotaku sources, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has told staff that a decision has been made to sell Gearbox to another company and is in the process of leaving the Embracer Group. According to the report, the deal is now “closer than ever” to being finalized. When asked by the site, Pitchford said “I’m delighted that what we might be up to is interesting enough to people that you want to make a story about us for your readers. As always, we will be thrilled to share whenever we have projects to announce or news to share as we work hard towards our mission to entertain the world.” One of the options the company had considered was to buy itself out of the Embracer Group and become independent.According to a recent LinkedIn listing, Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2 may currently be in development. While these have yet to be confirmed, the LinkedIn profile of former Gearbox technical director Randel R states that he is part of the plan and engineer development team on Borderlands 4 UE4 (Unreal Engine 4) and Tiny Tina’s Wonderland 2 UE4, alongside an unknown mysterious “Brothers in Arms” game.
